Humphreys Peak (12,633ft = 3,851m) is the highest point in the state of Arizona and is located about 11 miles (17.7 km) north of Flagstaff, Arizona.
We were at the top on September 19, 2008 in about 5 1/2 hrs.
Elevation gain: 3,313ft = 1,010m.

Humphreys Peak (12,633ft = 3,851m) is the highest point of San Francisco Mountain. It is also Arizona's only stratovolcano.
San Francisco Mountain is considered Mt. Saint Helens twin because the appearance of both San Francisco Mtn. and Mount Saint Helens is remarkably similar when viewed from looking into both of their bowls.

bhradio > The summit can be most easily reached by hiking the 4.5 miles (7.2 km) long Humphreys Trail that begins at the Arizona Snow Bowl ski resort.

bhradio > The first 3 miles the trail gradually climbs the mountain. The trail is very well marked until you reach the saddle.

bhradio > 11,400ft (3,475m) - No camping above this elevation!

bhradio > The last 1 3/4 miles it gets steeper and more difficult. After the saddle the trail can be hard to find at spots near the top.

bhradio > The last 1 mile (1.6 km) of the trail traverses the only region of tundra in Arizona, at an elevation of more than 11,500 feet (3,505 m).
